Sustainable access for scholarly communities

Supporting Societies,
Serving Specialized Communities

Our Mission

Purpose and Approach

We believe important medical, scientific, and scholarly knowledge should reach the professionals and specialized communities that need it.

ELP works with publishers, scholarly societies, and information providers to develop responsible and sustainable access models for researchers, healthcare professionals,

and other specialized user groups.

Building on E-LIBRARY USA’s experience supporting scholarly information access since 2011,

ELP is now exploring how those needs are evolving across today’s research and professional communities.

Why This Matters

Access to specialized medical and scientific information does not always fit traditional models.

Researchers and healthcare professionals work across a wide range of organizations and professional settings.
Sustainable access requires practical, transparent, and responsibly managed approaches.

Focused Communities

Researchers and professionals may have specialized information needs that differ by organization and setting.

Access Gaps

Access to important literature can vary across organizations, roles, and professional environments.

Responsible Models

Access should be practical, transparent, and aligned with publisher expectations.

Listening to the Market

ELP is currently gathering real-world feedback from researchers, smaller research teams, healthcare professionals, publishers, and scholarly societies to better understand where practical access gaps exist and how they are being addressed today.

How Access Is Managed

A controlled and transparent approach for specialized communities.
Access is structured to support appropriate use, clear accountability, and alignment with publisher expectations.

Defined User Groups

Access is provided only to clearly identified and appropriate users within a specific professional, research, or institutional context.

Secure Authentication

Users are given approved access methods designed to support secure, appropriate, and reliable use.

Responsible Oversight

Access and usage are managed carefully to support clarity, continuity, and responsible administration.

Publisher-Aligned Setup

Each arrangement is structured transparently and with respect for the policies and expectations of content providers.
